Retouching: Before & After

I'm often asked if I can share some of my photographs as they were straight out of the camera vs. the final retouched image. While I haven't had the time to do an in depth tutorial on my current workflow I hope the following set of examples helps glean a little insight into the process.

About the series:

I spent this Saturday afternoon in the studio with a group of people I won’t soon forget. It’s easy to get stuck in a routine of standard studio portraits and breaking that can be a difficult thing to do. This weekend taught me that changing up your subject can be as beneficial as anything else out there. These children and their parents took the time to come down and share some of their magic with us. I will be working more on this series over the next couple months and beyond, so for now I will leave you with a days work, and more smiling faces than I’ve seen in a while.

Day 3: Preview of Things to Come

RAW Vs. Edited I get a lot of requests to talk about my editing style. While this is a busy time of year and I will be back on the road in the morning, I thought I would post a preview to the behind the scenes write up I'm working on. The example below shows a raw image on the left and a quick Lightroom 4 edit with one of my custom presets applied.
